ASS HOLE OF THE MONTH – Lim Guan Eng

Recalcitrant, arrogant and a damn liar best sums up the character of Lim Guan Eng.

It must have been a half-hearted apology when he merely called for a press conference to apologise to the Sultan of Johor and his subjects over disparaging remarks he had made about the state.

Although Guan Eng is the Chief Minister of Penang, I think it was rather disrespectful of him to make an apology the way he did.

Being the head of a state does not absolve him to be so almighty as to issue an oral apology via a third party to a royalty.

To the Malays, he would have been branded “kurang ajar” or “biadap”.

Certainly anyone would agree with me that when you apologise to just anyone, the person should be man enough or have the balls to tender an apology face-to-face and perhaps with a handshake as well.

Well this is not the case for Guan Eng who thinks highly of himself and the convenience of calling for a press conference would suffice all.

Mr Guan Eng, there is such a thing as protocol in case you don’t know.

Guan Eng had at a function told an audience at the Foreign Correspondents Association of Singapore that “You don’t have to worry about your safety when you come to Penang, but if you are in Johor, and if you are a Singaporean, you are likely to get kidnapped.”

The Inspector-General of Police had also refuted claims that Johor is a crime-ridden state where chances of being kidnapped are high.

Certainly it is unbecoming to run down another state just to bolster the popularity of the state run by oneself. You don’t have to stoop so low as to resort to bad mouthing another state.

The Sultan of Johor had said that he was offended by the statement but did not want to react because as a Ruler, he said, that he should not be dragged into politics.

But the problem here is that Guan Eng had used Johor as a yardstick to portray that the state was unsafe compared to Penang.

It is like running down another person to get all the credit.
