The MPPP has approved a 44-acre RM120m theme park near the Teluk Bahang Dam. The 17-acre first phase covers an adventure park and water park and will be completed in 2013. All in, there will be three phases over six years.
More details on the Escape Penang website.
The land, which belongs to the PBA, was leased (60 years?) to the the theme park operator. Word has it that not everyone within the PBA agreed with the decision.
I am not quite sure how the roads are going to cope with that and how the traffic impact assessment proposes to handle the extra volume of traffic on the narrow road to Teluk Bahang which also services all the beach hotels.
Another thought to ponder over … a water theme park on a beautiful tropical island with lush forest-covered hills? What has happened to our once blue seas and pristine forests? People used to flock to Penang to plunge into the clean waters of Tanjung Bunga and Teluk Bahang. Even Gurney Drive had clear water once. Tell me, what has happened to the seas and why? Is this the price of so-called development? What kind of development is that? Development for whom?
And another six hotels are coming up in George Town (The Star). While the hotels will no doubt be profitable, they will inevitably result in more congestion. Who pays for the supporting infrastructure needed to alleviate this additional congestion?

That’s why LGE appointed Mat Sabun a.k.a Mat Sabu the Chairman of PBA, can kowtim ma….
Water theme park is good.
Penangites no need to trave to Bukit Merah resort or Sunway Lagoon.
Save time and petrol!
Good initiative by Penang government.
I have spoken to a lot of my moderate and educated Malay friends in Penang. Most, if not all of them, acknowledge that Guan Eng is doing a good job in that state.
There is no tinge of truth in the three accusations which Muhyiddin has leveled at DAP in Penang (or for that matter in any state).
I’ve not come across open antagonism by the DAP against the Malay race, religion or royalty. So, this is just empty rhetoric reserved for empty heads.
…………….a theme park, in a rain catchment area? Sounds like a quick and dirty way to get money. Think of all the tenders and such, and the cut for the state govt.
Anyways, enjoy your flash floods
Can a narrow winding road cope with the traffic? If they widened the road, means a lot of slope cuttings…inviting disaster to Teluk Bahang township….akai ada ka Guan Eng…another bo hoot lulian from DAP..
That’s what Penangites get when you vote in a stupid leader.
No fiasco if milk from cow who live in RM70k per month condo can be used as KR1M susu products?
Khasiat Susu Sherryzat!
Penang is proud to be the first state to hold public open tenders of government projects and procurement contracts and also conducting it through the internet(e-tender). By sticking to CAT principles, Penang is the first state or federal government in Malaysia to gain praise from Transparency International.
The performance by Malay contractors in an open tender system with non-Malays proves that Malay contractors can compete with others and win tender awards on their own merit. Clearly it is not the race that is an issue but failed policies that encourage dependency especially when it helps BN maintain the status quo and its grip on power.
In politics, we want more friends than foes. But we are willing to lose friends and gain foes if we can change the mindset of the people by providing equal opportunity, be confident, self-reliant and attain international benchmarks. Pakatan Rakyat Penang’s greatest achievement to Malaysia and greatest threat to BN’s stranglehold on power is to prove that the right policies can make Malays and Malaysians compete and succeed against the best.
Yeah, right, the Malay card. That argument is supposed to work wonders ya. Melayu contractors getting the crumbs right? Spread the small slice ya while the big slices go elsewhere, right again? What about the small bumiputera enterprises that used to be located along Penang Road and elsewhere where they can make a living? How come the gerais of the Chinese hawkers are still there? Burmah Road, Penang Road, McAlister? And all those thriving hawkers in congested Air Hitam?
Thanks for thinking about the Malays. Divert the issue about the theme park in Telok Bahang. And while you guys are at it, don’t forget about any policies for the Indians of Pulau Pinang ya?

Worrying ain’t it.
Developing lands here and there as fast as you say “build”.
Exchanging land or part of sea for reclamation for a proposed tunnel project, when there is already a bridge and another one underway.
Are there a master plan in sync? Or is it just hantam hantam everything while you can. Noted even some obvious kawan kawan relationship with a major conglomerate
Same here in Selangor. Every small nooks and corners are now in progress with some development.Redevelopment here and there(http://moonlightchest.com/selangor_times_2011/owners_wary_of_redevelopment.asp) ( http://www.atsa.com.my/project-2010-th.asp).
Look at the PKNS field being surrendered for some commercial lot
Is the current governments whoring the land away to greedy or kawan kawan developers?
Instead of pushing for a restrained and balance development.
This is what we get when you trust people and elect them on ideal rhetorics and holier-than-thou platform
Cheers
The main difference in Penang between BN under Koh Tsu Koon and Pakatan under Lim Guan Eng is that KTK is a eunuch who allowed the Umnoputras to plunder the state – Kampung Buah Pala, Pulau Jerejak , the list goes on.
LGE with his open tender policy has enabled the ordinary Malays to really show their talents as can be seen from their winning the vast majority of the state contracts, all on merit and in the process has prompted the rent seeking Penang Umnoputras to lament their shrinking bank balances on the streets each Friday.

First, it was his stupid idea of setting up a tiger park, then he realised its cruel to keep tigers in cage. Worse,if v recalled, the tigers were to be supplied by that animal smuggler Anson. Now this stupid CM want to set up a theme park at Teluk Bahang. Is he trying to drive out the Malay population there? Hasn’t he drove the Malays away from Relau? He’s a racist to the core. What he is doing is a sin and a systematic way to finish off the bumiputras in Penang.
In Penang, LGE had plugged most of the loopholes and stopped the abuse by Umno through DAP CAT (competency, accountability and transparency) government. Many Malays benefitted compared to only a handful during Umno-BN reign.
The DAP leaders had proven their worth as leaders of all races after undergoing all sort of abuse, threat, detention and offer of monetary gain. Umno leaders, have you proven to be fair and reliable to all races compared to DAP?
Is this LGE’s idea of development? Chop the trees and put up a theme park? Kan nee neh!
Good luck to penangites who think the CM is God.
So nepotism is not so bad after all if done correctly lah…
Cuma cara Umno itu cara salah guna kuasa!
mimi, you sounded like a public relations practitioner
That’s because you have been BTNised!

What a pathetic attempt to deflect attention from the true fiasco – NFC Fiasco.
Sharizat is a big fat cow with the NFC feeding
How shall we cook her – raw, medium, well done?
As a Penang citizen, I am very proud of the success of my beloved Pakatan government. The UMNO-Barisan racist company Sdn.Bhd, ( i say company because they are a money making politician, and sdn.bhd because they make money, stolen from the public, for their own pockets) is trying all its way’s to down grade the Penang government and slander lies towards it`s administration.
In recent news, we hear of the Racist BN company sdn.bhd attacking the Penang
state Government and slandering lies against them.
I would like to tell the Penang Gerakan chief Dr Teng Hock Nan and the Umno liaison
chief Zainal Abidin Osman, to mind your own business and not interfere in the affairs of Penang .
The people of Penang had voted in the PR government and had given them the
powers to run the Penang State .
We don t need your comments or advices on how to run the state as you guys
come from a bad history and even a present fact of a corrupted and racist government. The people of Penang had clearly rejected the BN-UMNO in the last General Elections. Please stay out of Penang and let our government do their job.
The people of Penang today are very happy with state`s administration. There are many positive policies and steps taken by the government in favor of the Rakyat and not themselves.
We not interfere…but we watching and watching…!If u think ur CM is good but others tells different….
Clearly DAP…is racist, anti malay anti Islam….DAP (Dog and Pig )
LGE had proven to Malay community by defending an underage Malay girl who was involved with an Umno leader in Malacca. Guan Eng ended up in prison for doing so.
