In October last year, Stopthelies cautioned the people that slowly but surely that PAS hudud is creeping into their lives.
Sure enough, it has been hardly three months, and we have another ridiculous regulation of absurdity – courtesy of the PAS-led Kedah government enforcing new rulings for stage performances during Chinese New Year.
As if there were already not enough of restrictions that had been imposed since the PAS government took over the state after the 2008 general election, the latest ruling smacks of great disrespect to the Chinese community.
What is bothering is the outright intrusion into the way of life for the Chinese. Why should the PAS government dictate to the Chinese on how they should carry out their Chinese New Year activities and celebrations ?
They have no bloody business poking their nose on how the Chinese should go about ushering in their new year.
Under the new ruling issued to the Kota Setar district in Kedah on Jan 9, professional female singers will be banned from performing in shopping malls and other open public places.
Only male performers are now allowed to sing and dance in shows held in such venues. As for female performers, only secondary school girls will be allowed to do so.
There is also a ban on bands providing live music in entertainment events. Performers can only use recorded music accompaniment or pre-recorded music.
Compounding the ultra bias regulations which is rather harsh and imposing on the Chinese, is the deafening silence of DAP leaders.
Where are they to speak up for the Chinese when they are needed? Where is Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng, Teresa Kok, Tony Pua, and a bunch of the ever ready vocal leaders who seemed to be tight lipped now. WHY?
It is that they don’t want to antagonize their big brother for fear that they would be asked again to leave the Pakatan coalition, thus shattering their Putrajaya dreams.\
It also did not help that the DAP had been submissive to PAS demands and in doing so had given too much face to them.
At a recent DAP function in Pahang, PAS leaders took offence to a singing performance which was stopped abruptly after they expressed their displeasure.
Just because some PAS leaders who were guests at the function did not like the dressing of the singers, which they claimed were too sexy; DAP being the host obligingly called off the performance.
What was even worse is that the villagers who sponsored the singing performances were infuriated because they had raised thousands of ringgit and were looking forward to the show. They had no say to the cancellation of the performance.
And the let down by the DAP does not stop there. It was rather stupid and rather ludicrous for DAP organising secretary Anthony Loke to later suggest a ban on all “sexy singers” at all its party functions.
It is a big slap on the face of the Chinese community. If the party cannot even stand up against their “tai kor” PAS brother, at least have the decency not to further allow itself to be “pushovers”.
Under the new ruling in Kedah, DAP should perhaps give suggestion on what should women who sing or dance for a living should do now.
How are they going to make ends meet? Who is going to feed their families.
The people should think rationally on whether they want to live a regimented life bounded by rules and regulations and live by a list of Do’s and Don’ts.
Are we going to endorse such policies of absurdity that even for a haircut, there are restrictions and rulings imposed in the name of religion.
This happens when DAP succumbs to the PAS Ketuanan culture in Pakatan Rakyat.

The latest decision by PAS led government’s restrictions on public performances during Chinese New Year including a ban on female performances should be ample proof and a sober reminder to all Muslims that PAS is a real danger to Non-Muslim.
In recent months Malaysians and particularly Non-Muslims have witnessed a sampling of what life under PAS would be, from
i. the apprehending Non-Muslims for Khalwat
ii. the harassment and issuing summonses against unisex hair salons
iii. opposing cinemas
iv. objecting the sale of liquor and demanding curtailing the sale of alcohol
v. not allowed to wish Christians Merry Christmas
vi. flip-flop on the right to Non-Muslims and Christians to use “Allah”.
PAS has not changed and PAS remains uncompromising, unrelenting in its goal to achieve its final agenda. It wants to impose its brand of Islam and Ketuanan Islam on Non-Muslims.
The question for Non-Muslims and Non-Muslim voters is simple : Are you prepared for a life under PAS ?
PAS slogan “PAS For All” is now exposed as nothing but fraudulent and deceitful ploy for the votes of Non Muslims.

I salute to what Norman Fernandez wrote. Reminds me of the late Tan Sri tan Chee khoon who confront issues without fear or favour. We need more DAP members like you, to look at issues and confront it so that the country we live in can become a better country.
I believe in a two party system is good for the country. I am against politician who are corrupted. But I am also against politician who do not believe in a plural society, who do not respect the way of life chosen by each individual. This will only tear us apart.
I have been doing a lot of thinking, a lot of soul searching and a lot of observation lately. Pakatan is NOT a viable alternative. As an accountant with economics background, for example , their proposal to have minimum wage of Rm 1200 will cause many companies to be uncompetive and therefore unprofitable. In the end it only lead to unemployment when these companies close down or relocate to another country. Another proposal is to lower the petrol price further. A further subsidy will only lead to further wastage. These are just two examples of unsound economic policies. The cancellation of student loans also show how irresponsible PAkATAN can be. A loan is a loan and we must let our people learn responsibility to repay what they owe.
But the majority of Malaysian are emotion based. They will vote based on emotion. The opposition know this and they are fanning hatred towards the present government, in particular UMNO. Sometimes it’s hard to see what they say is the truth are just pure lies or exaggeration. This is no good for the country. Trying to win at all cost no matter what is like saying I want to get rich even it means I need to rob a bank.
Indeed I have never been disturbed so emotionally by politics until this coming election. My sincere prayers and hope is that we will all vote with wisdom and understanding and may God continue to protect this country from the evil scheme of men .
