Gangnam DAP

Lim-Guan-Eng-UBAH-Rocket-StyleSource: The Choice

DAP has now played its lame “ace” ahead of GE13 in the form of a Gangnam Style rip-off called UBAH Rocket Style which is aimed squarely at the Government.

It deserves a bit fat “E” for Effort given that it is an energetic and extravagant production, which was shot at locations around the nation. But it’s safe to say not too many scenes were filmed in Kelantan given that the video features unmarried men and women dancing together.

The video is an attempt to appeal to the key youth vote but unfortunately, while it succeeds at being a cheeky parody; its key themes miss the mark. For example, one of the key characters is a dancing cow, there to symbolise the NFCorp saga. Since this video is effectively DAP’s vision statement for 2013, one has to wonder why it is so preoccupied with a corruption case that was uncovered in 2011 (by the Auditor-General), was investigated by the MACC this time last year, and resulted in criminal charges which are now before the courts?

Likewise its obsession with the Scorpene issue, which vanished from the front pages of our newspapers last year at the precise time it was revealed that the so-called trial into the submarine deal that was said to be taking place in France was a deceitful myth.

Two issues that long ago ceased to be issues, both of which consign this pop song to the “golden oldies” hour.

It also harps on about high prices, begging the question which of PAS’ benevolent state polices DAP will borrow to artificially force prices down? Leading the nation into recession is the most likely way a Pakatan government will dampen demand and thus reduce prices.

And strangely, the song zooms in on some issues that draw attention to Lim Guan Eng’s dodgy leadership in Penang.

You need to buy a house…but you must pay, pay, pay it intones while showing what could be George Town condos for the rich. We wonder if families struggling to put a roof over their heads in that state will also find it funny? Perhaps the video’s Producer Tony Pua should have taken his camera to nearby Taman Manggis to show the land that had been set aside for low cost housing but is now in private hands?

And its attack on Lynas is way wide off the mark, talking about nuclear power building, which means DAP too was taken in by last year’s lie that the Gebeng plant is actually a secret nuclear facility that the North Koreans would be proud of. In fact, back in July the news portal FreeMalaysiaToday apologised to Lynas about articles it published, which claimed that the Lynas plant may be unsafe. So why resurrect this false impression?

Also, this is K-pop, the very form of music the recent PAS Muktamar passed a motion against on the grounds that it is “excessive entertainment”. That’s probably why they didn’t ask Abdul Hadi Awang along to make a special guest appearance. Most people would pay to see him dance.

In other words it’s an exuberant effort but in terms of its big themes it’s an outdated, unruly mess.

So The Choice has decided to rewrite the lyrics to make it truly contemporary with a chorus that sums up where DAP sits within Pakatan Rakyat and makes it truly contemporary.

The CAT, Guan Eng, thinks he’s master of the party,
One man, one seat, it will never be the way!
Hudud, its friends from PAS, don’t want us to have fun,
To think, in Government they’ll finally have a say!
The chorus of course must reflect the power vacuum at the top of Pakatan Rakyat.
Hey, who’s our leader?… Oppa Anwar-Hadi Style.

You get the idea.

The great irony of this DAP piece is that it only serves to highlight the chasm between the Pakatan parties. Here are wealthy, metropolitan Chinese people dressed up in party clothes and having fun. They somehow didn’t find the time to get their cameras to a plantation, a poor fishing village, or even try to include poor Chinese people.

Members of PAS will watch 30 seconds of this video before turning it off in disgust and saying: “Told you so. We can’t trust these immoral Chinese.”

Watching this video you quickly see how much time, money and effort has gone into it. But rather than writing these clichéd lyrics, perhaps they could have used the time better to formulate a manifesto or comprehensive polices they could use in government? Because UBAH Rocket Style is no substitute for either.

The first views of this video online received a largely hostile reception in the blogosphere. “Daniel” said: “As far I’m concerned, there are many styles in DAP. Father and son, dictatorial and autocratic styles.”

But another comment really summed it up: “This is really cheesy and lame. Come on DAP, excite us with ideas and arguments, not K-Pop rip-offs which have been overdone and then some.”

Indeed. With GE13 in sight the political debate has shifted to the real issues of the economy, education, reform and the big one missed by DAP – the future. Dancing cows and submarines make this video look like DAP is a party stuck in the past.

It’s typical of the biaDAP..the dogs in biaDAP are lack of creativity..are the dogs from biaDAP really that desperate that they need to produce this kind of suck and totally lame video?! I don’t even bother to watch it because I know it’s only a waste of my time

Why the fuck are you umno bastards so terrified of DAP? Chicken shit aswipes..even fat ass and big mama are fucking silent…

      • Funniman says:

Happy New Year….Respect needs to be earned.
First and foremost, watch your tongue. By calling other bastards, it means that you are lower than one. It showed how low you are.

I am not afraid of DAP. On the contrary, I used to respect Chen Man Hin, Lim Kit Siang and Lee Lam Thye. These old guys have principles. They have ideals. They know what they are fighting for.
But I have ZERO respect for Lim Guan Eng. He is utter rubbish. He is worse than Anwar. He is double tongue. He has no backbone and no principles. He may have backing of Penang and many other Chinese but he is full of sly. He can be the Chief Minister but he is not successful as a person. Why? Because he has no backbone and he has no respect for anyone and from any one.

        • Funniman says:

If this clown try vulgar again, he would be replied 10x more of his own medicine. Take that from a construction worker.

Not “terrified” of DAP, stupid. We only want to shit what is really shit.

I did not bother to watch because I know it will be what it will be a bunch of lies and attempt to put other down for doing things they did not. If they would have a Gangnam style to tell people what they DAP have done for Malaysia and Malaysian Chinese — then I will watch.
I however do not blame them from trying to entertain their crowd and followers and keep them close to them. What else can they do when all the promises and shit they have been spitting out have been proven to be all lies
Pakatan taking over Putrajaya by I think September 2008 — it was not a plan, it was not a dream- -it was going to happen — and then poof and not even smoke .
Najib was order to testify in France on the Scopine submarine purchase – the shit these people can dream up to keep their stupid audience entertained.

  4. Pakatan Puak Pembohong says:

even when they cut and paste, even when they copy and print, they can’t do it properly. in fact, nothing good comes from them. even when they promised something, they failed to deliver. the stuff they are dishing out everyday, they look like bad imitations of the worst of the worst B movies. the feces from animals are used to produce fertilizers. the shit coming out of these people’s asses……..
the funny thing is, Gangnam style is a parody, a sarcasm directed at the rich living in Gangnam district.
could the DAP be telling us that once they are in power in Putrajaya, they will imitate the rich of Gangnam district ? could this be the precursor of things to come ?
already some people are calling the DAP the party of the New Towkays. well, one thing we do know is that some of their elected reps are already making big bucks off the assets of the people i.e the Taiping Beruas duo.

In Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew has a starred Double First Law degree from the University of Cambridge and ruled for over 5o years alone, 1959 to 2913. During this period, Malaysia had 6 democratically elected Prime Ministers. And Lee Kuan Yew admitted some (titanic) mistakes.

Recently, DAP who now makes a big play for power to control Malaysia, admitted there was some counting error which was 1 + 1 = 1. Please Malaysians wake up before it is too late !

    • Peliwat Dubor says:

      Yup!

Majority of Malaysians have wake up. Majority of Malaysians have already known that they’re being ‘kencing’ and shit upon by the Pakatan Rabak for all these years!

    • JasOne says:

CEC vote counting? Read from MI, saying that actually Zairil actually make it to CEC lineup but some serious counting error was found during audit 3 weeks later. 1000 plus delegates already got 500 error vote for Zairil. That’s very odd as it takes them 3 weeks to realised the mistake. So we all should be well prepare as this DAP chaps all got poor maths and they are actually very slow in counting. Next time during their CEC vote counting I am volunteering my 10 years old daughter to do free counting for them

      • Anonymous says:

Gangnam or no gangnam, what interests me most is today’s news about DAP CEC election results recount published by Opposition blog Free Malaysia Today. “The Choice” post article says, “the song zooms in on some issues that draw attention to Lim Guan Eng’s dodgy leadership in Penang,” but the FMT news certainly draws further attention on that very dodgy leadership:

The DAP has rectified its party election results of Dec 15 and last night announced that Zairil Khir Johari, a protégé of secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, secured the number 20 spot and puts Zairil in the powerful 20-seat CEC on account of being “elected”, not “appointed” as previously made out to be.

He is now said to be “the sole Malay candidate who was elected to the top post.” The FMT report said, “suspicion is rife that the party is pandering to Malay interests”, even used the headline, “Is DAP bowing to Malay interests?”

In the recount, Zairil secured a place in CEC by garnering 803 votes. On the other hand, DAP grassroots member Vincent Wu, who initially clinched number fifth spot with 1202 votes, actually garnered 669 votes and is in 26th position. Deputy president Tan Kok Wai secured the fifth spot following the changes. Several quarters are asking why the delay in the recount as the party had known the error a day after the party polls on Dec 15.

But my quarter is asking, “Ada tipu ka, ada silap mata ka, ini macam Lim Guan Eng leadership ka?”

    • Anonymous says:

The DAP election returning officer, Pooi Weng Keong, said the error was caused by “technical glitches” when transferring the tabulated results using Microsoft Excels. Sounds convenient, innit?

He said he had reported the mistake to DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng a day after the party polls, but the latter instructed that the correct results be made public after an internal audit and verified by external auditors.

However, former Selangor DAP leader Tan Tuan Tat believed that the timing of such an announcement might be the party’s ploy to divert public attention from an alleged land scandal involving Perak DAP leader Ngeh Koo Ham.

The allegations first surfaced during Perak State Legislative Assembly sitting on Dec 21 in which Ngeh was accused of receiving more than 4,000 acres of a land from PAS-led Kelantan government as an inducement to appoint PAS assemblyman Nizar Jamaluddin as menteri besar after the 2008 general election.

“The issue has been punishing, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was done to divert attention,” he said. He also said the party should have conducted fresh elections in the wake of such major error.

Meanwhile, Klang DAP secretary Lee Fu Haw asked why the party did not immediately inform about the error to the delegates who were still at the party convention. “You could have announced it first and gone for the auditing later. The delay is puzzling to many of us ,” he said.

      The DAP election director resigned.

My next question is: Is FMT not an Oppo blog? If so, how come it reports the lambasting comments by those shown above (and some others not shown above)? Because of huge splits among the DAP factions, one faction sabotaging the other?

But I like these and wish more of such happen nearer PRU13 time. Me being nasty? No, just wishing DAP gets trounced at PRU13 and goes kapputz soon after.

      Anon 5.52,
Zairil is pure Chinese, his mother and father were Chinese. His Chinese mother married the late Khir Johari and both of them converted to Islam. Zairil then took Khir Johari’s name due to his conversion …….he is not a Malay nor is he fighting for the Malays in DAPigs!

      • Anonymous says:

If not habitually speaking BM, practices the Malay religion and follow the Malay way of life, he certainly is not a Malay by the definition in the Constitution. Pernah nampak dia sembahyang Jumaat ka?

      • Anwar Kong Kek Kuat says:

This Zairil do not have an ounce of Malay blood nor Malay spirit. At least Dr Ridzuan Tee , though he is not Malay by blood but he has Malay spirit and a very strong one too.

  11. ExDAP says:

I think DAP should spend more time on solving low cost housing than putting up a video to divert attention. In addition, PAS may not approve such dancing as it is against their warped extreme Islamic doctrine to have people jumping and dancing.

DAP should ban dancing similar to their ban on dancing to please PAS.

I watched the Ubah Rocket Style 5 minutes clip twice. Let me tell you a real story from history.

In 1940 just before the second world war, two films was produced by the Nazi Government as a propaganda with antisemistic content. One of the film is called The Eternal Jews which is documentary and serious in nature. It was not very successful. The other film is titled Jew Suss . This film is highly successful because it was engaging and entertaining. Some 20 million Germans watch this antisemistic film and it was highly sucessful despite a low budget.jew Suss is a box office. Both film was produced by the ministry of propaganda under the instruction of Adolf Hitler. Jew Suss managed to capture the imagination of many Germans and was able to convince many Germans that all their suffering can end if the Jews are exterminated.

It is sad that History often repeat itself. The general public do not know what is the truth and what is propaganda. There is no doubt in my mind that this Ubah rocket Style clip will be highly successful because it is very entertaining and viewers will get engaged watching it. Sadly, because it is going to be successful, the viewers will believe it even though it is just a propaganda and not the truth.

I watched the video you mentioned at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guq9QI8MG9s.

It was a drama depicting a conniving, ambitious Jewish businessman, rather serious in tone. Perhaps those days, without the internet, the drama could be deemed entertaining.

But I personally feel that this Ubah Roket Style is simply ludicrous.

  15. ray says:

    Hahahahaha

Tony Pua Kiam Wee pursued his “O” and “A” Levels in Raffles Institution and Raffles Junior College, graduated from Keble College, Oxford University with a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. For all that “quality” education, his Cyber Village Sdn Bhd went kapuuuutt … putt putt putt.

Now he produced a brainwashing video that insults Malaysians’ intelligence. People will be forgiven if they thought he was a vernacular school graduate who sells pirated DVDs to cari makan.

In his “super-genius” video, there is zero mention of DAP’s proactive policies for the nation, no mention of the superb programmes for implementation. Instead there are lots of personal ridicule, controversies and misguided contention. The level of pitching for ‘effect and impact’ is way below kindergarten standard.

With such IQ grade they must NOT be voted in as leaders. Aisehman, hancur Negara.

  16. Apolitical says:

    Ray,

Thank you for leading me to the movie, Jew Suss. I have a quick view. This film may not strike our chord today. But for the Germans at those time it spoke volume to their heart. It move them so much that they were reportedly riots against the Jews in many parts of Germany. It is pure antisemistic propaganda make into a movie.

So one thing for sure, if you are a PAKATAN or DAPor Anti BN , this Ubah Rocket Style will stike your chord. Look at the number of hits it is attracting in just afew days. It will take STL years, many years for the same number of hits. Hope you get it. People are not looking for hard facts. They want something that speak on how they feel although this may not be the truth.

    • ray says:

      Apolitical

If the target audience is their own die-hard supporters then I would say it’s a waste of resources, because they are already pakatan’s fixed deposit. I thought that they might want to fish for the fence-sitters’ votes.

That video may offend the well-read and might come across as demeaning with their cheap shots at baseless allegations especially over Rosmah’s diamond ring and her pole dancing gestures.

  17. Apolitical says:

Ray, your views are noted and quite right.

But politics is about perception. It is not always the truth that triumph and the better man wins. It’s most unfortunate and that’s where democracy rears its ugly head. The young are often influenced because the young are generally antiestablishment.

I just check the you tube, if you add all the sites that show the same parody in Malay, mandarin, English and Tamil, it has hit passed 500,000. Give it another week, my guess is that it will pass the million mark. Right or wrong, truth or false, propaganda or allegation, the message is being distributed. And this would be explosive when the masses gather and talk about it.
