A cyber war is raging between the two press aides of Penang Chief Minister – Cheong Yin Fan and Kief Wong – and Chinese press reporters in Facebook since two weeks ago.
The 34-year-old Cheong is the Dear Leader’s press secretary while Wong is her assistant. The duo has been busy attacking reporters on their Facebook in a bid to defend their boss who has increasingly become unpopular with the media in Penang.
Lim is still being treated like a demi God by most Penang people. With the help of the pro-DAP Chinese press, Lim has seemingly done nothing wrong. If there are any mistakes, the blame would be put on the previous BN state government. The Chinese press has even given a nickname to Guan Eng – Yin Shen or the God.
Well, the simplistic Chinese press reporters are beginning to see his true dictatorial colours and inability to take criticism.
This time around, the reporters who fought back are from Nanyang Siang Pau, China Press and Guang Ming Daily. The reporters have used their personal Facebook accounts to post messages and articles against Guan Eng on Cheong and Wong’s Facebook walls.
Some of the messages posted on Cheong and Wong’s walls included stinging criticism against the Dictator. The reporters, in venting their frustrations, want Baby God’s two loyal aides to see the true colour of their boss.
As far as the media in Penang are concerned, the CM appears to have given his blessings to the cyber tussle as he has not stopped his aides from hurling attacks against the Penang Chinese reporters.
Sin Chew Daily’s reporters appear to be on the sideline and the talk is that the Sin Chew management has instructed its reporters not to get involve after Sin Chew had spiked a commentary piece by the CM a few weeks ago. The decision outraged the Big Ego who then demanded an apology from the newspaper.
The word is Sin Chew does not want people to misunderstand that the newspaper tried to seek revenge.
With the Chinese community already ancestral worshipping Guan Eng, most Chinese papers feared earning the wrath of their pro-DAP readers when they attacked Guan Eng.
This portal urges the Chinese community and DAP to collect money to set up a temple soon to worship Guan Eng if that is the case. They should even ask for 4 D numbers from him.
Kwang Wah Daily and Oriental Daily, which has a good relationship with Lim have remained silence over the incident. In fact, Penang-based Kwang Wah has become the Voice of Lim Guan Eng with extensive coverage for this demi God.
This cyber war started a month ago after someone posted a recorded conversation between the CM and reporters on a press conference on You Tube. The issue was over the rumours that Lim has a passionate affair with one of his assistants nicknamed Xiao Hong or Rainbow.
A reporter had asked Guan Eng to give his side of the story and a chance for the CM to clear his name but instead the Dictator went berserk. He warned the reporters not to publish the news or else he would sue them. He was heard saying repeatedly “you will see what I will do to you if you print.”
Guan Eng has not admitted nor deny his hot relationship with the woman, which has become a talking point in Penang.
The warning by Guan Eng, which was posted on Youtube, has stirred a debate among the Chinese reporters on Guan Eng’s sincerity on the freedom of the press. After all, this bullshit champion of press freedom has banned Utusan Malaysia and New Straits Times from his functions.
Imagine what would be the reactions of Guan Eng if the government bans his lap dog Malaysiakini from covering Umno and BN functions.
The vindictive Guan Eng decided to hit back by using his column in Sin Chew to accuse the mainstream media of giving the recorded conversation to BN cyber troopers.
Guan Eng had tried to create the impression that Barisan cyber troopers had attempted to smear his image in the hope to reduce the impact of the Xiao Hong’s incident.
Lim said it was merely a private conversation. However, the point is that Lim repeatedly threatened the media at the press conference.
Relations between the Chinese media and the aides have started to turn sour with much suspicions following the leaked press conference recording.
The result is Cheong has gone on a rampage against certain reporters on her Facebook.

RESIDENTS of the HDB flats in Moulmein Road, Singapore, are fighting over a durian tree.
It is a prickly issue, no doubt, guaranteed to grab the newspaper headlines because our neighbours down south are also known for their kiasu attitude.
Things have gotten so bad that some residents even suggested that if the bounty could not be shared, then the tree should be chopped down.
The Housing Board has since clarified that it is the rightful owner and therefore the tree is common property.
After all, we know the Singaporeans love our Malaysian durians, and many are prepared to travel the length and breadth of the peninsula to enjoy the best fruits…
The residents of Moulmein Road would probably not be exchanging angry words with one another if they are exposed to the realities of the real jungle.
Here, we appreciate that the durian, like everything else in the natural world, is God’s blessing to us.
Deputy executive editor Soo Ewe Jin hopes the Singaporeans in Moulmein Road will not let their war of words degenerate into throwing durians at one another. That would be a very painful experience indeed.

You may be right though, but I think this GE13, will see a decline in support, especially from Sbg.Perai side. On the Island, 1 or 2 seat will return to BN. The undemocratic DAP-PR will still rule, BN as the opposition, with simple majority or the other way around.
