  1. TK Wong says:

Police intimidation started the night before but they have acted professionally. So after watching this video will we still believe in the so called peaceful demonstration? Look at the Chinese lady. What a pity to see such a well dress and educated person becoming a moron and acted like thug. Hopefully someone out there will be able to post that lady identity and we all can just send a piece of shot to her. In any demonstration the environment and surrounding will change a person to an aggressor. Nobody believe what those mobs already done.
Anwar confirmation of the barricade crashing can be clearly heard from Cikgu Bard healer calling for confirmation masuk masuk Buka! And indeed Anwar give the go. Situation is under control before Anwar giving the go ahead. Remember when he was DPM. What did he do? Enjoying his position and making preparation to take over from Tun Mahathir with lots of caused to the country. His IMF role and increase of interest rate to almost 16%. Many business is at the brink of collapse partly due to stall economy but the real killer is the interest rate. Property foreclosure and car NPL was on the rise. He purposely created this to achieve his ambition to be PM so the Rakyat will hate Tun M. But thank God for giving Tun M with such a brain and he kicked Anwar hard with the boot.
Today he did it again. The worst is he is using the Rakyat to achieve his ambition. Please don’t be fool by this Moron. The Rakyat will pay the price again and it will be lot heavier. So the Chinese please don’t be to contended yet. Remember the word ‘woh men shi I chia len’ we all are family. And what the price our community paid that time. This time around we all will pay heavier plus Ah Long type of interest. Think again before you vote Anwar in. If not for you please think for your children sake. He will never change

    • Anonymas says:

Since his college years, taking things to the streets is Anwar’s thing. He did orchestrate lots of rallies with different causes under different ‘flags’, and all of them are loud and obnoxious.

      Including this one.

      • Bangla says:

Can ask Najib to name the policeman who was whacked until he vomitted blood. So far, only two policemen were warded out of the 65 injured. That means 63 victims were Bersih 3.0 participants. Can you trust this flip flop and double talker any further?

    • spy says:

      On the dot TK Wong
      My sentiment exactly

The younger generations who worship his empty rhetorics do not know this or experienced the pain associated with his actions which seemingly was to fish IMF involvement. Tun Mahathir once trusted him, went overseas and left him managing Malaysia alone for one month.
They have not seen how empty shopping malls were, how working people shivered worrying about the future, how every employees’ bosses worried about the business, compounded by currency crisis. Many many thanks to Tun Mahathir and his regime for bringing us out of the mess with the brave and unorthodox currency control.

Aanwat is bad news for any peace loving rakyat
      Both short and long term

        How to recognize agents provocateurs?

The suspicious organized group believes in 2000 people from the police special branch comes with these features,

        1. Yellow hand bands.
        2. Bersih head bands.
        3. Military haircut and good body build.
        4. Unique police style.

        • anone says:

Passing the blame to previous state govt, or in this case somebody else when its one self’s in action disobeying court orders(got color film evidence some more)

or better still “looks like me, haircut like me, shirt like mine, handsome like but its not me”. Its a set up by you know who!

          • Hani says:

Yes the home minister seems to be lying. In one breadth he said there wasn’t any security threat from B3.0, and in the next instance there was intelligence report of violence and injury. What kind of double talk is that. The minister is displaying absolute lack of intelligence on his part. Like a low IQ person!

        • Anonymas says:

I believe the provocateurs were not policemen. heck the guys who were with Azmin and Anwar had short hair and good body build. Unique police style? Like what

Instead, there are lanky, longhaired haircut guys wearing headbands among the provocateurs or should I say, “Hijackers”. In that press conference, the guy who pointed out the hijacking got told off and was escorted out of the room. Anwar was taking the heat, he was the provocateur (even in that video)

Fitnah hancur berkecai! Anak Dr M, Dato Marina Mahathir membidas kerajaan BN kerana guna kekerasan terhadap himpunan Bersih yg aman. Perbuatan hantar peluru kpd Pengarah unit amal PAS sdr Johari Osman memang menjijikkan. Kita harus bersatu menolak budaya samseng ini.

      • Anonymas says:

        • Iklas says:

Anybody can now start some food stalls along the residences of VIPs now since the police says its OK as long as we don’t create trouble and is free to gather. I am sure the people would also like to know how our VIPs’ houses look like and also get to taste Malaysia food favorites. Food recommended : Bak Qua, Roti Canai, Bak Ku Teh, Kambing soup, Laksa, Mee goreng etc. I am sure Bersih people will support. Let’s join in the fun. If logistics is an issue, all you need is to ask people to do collection at their those places using Groupons etc. It’s going to be a sure winner, a Bersih environment and no one is going to get killed ! Already 250K potential customers man ! Those who come, please don’t be be so crude and vuglar to show your butts like some fellows who are badly taught and brought up. Be decent OK ?

    • Bersih Forever says:

      The Significance of Bersih (poem)

      – by Allan CF Goh

      Bersih is the people’s movement:
      There is no subscribed membership,
      Nor a registered society.
      It is a spontaneous grouping
      Of free, like-minded citizens,
      Who believe in democracy,
      Transparent and impeccable.
      Bersih does not ask for the sky;
      It only wants clean elections.

It is helmed by a committee
      Of people with integrity,
      Deeply concerned with the faulty,
      Fraudulent electoral roll.
      These brave civic individuals,
      Voluntarily give their time,
      Resource, effort and energy.
      Bersih does not ask for the sun;
      It only want fair elections.

      Voting in a democracy
Is the most basic human right.
      It is an open avenue
For the expression of free will,
For the choice of good governance.
      This means the careful selection
      Of moral principled people.
      Bersih does not ask for the moon;
      It wants only just elections.

      Only a clean, fair election
      Can ensure the installation
      Of a responsible government,
Of, by and for all the people,
Based on the best human values,
      For a true, progressive nation,
      Steeped in democratic values.
      Bersih does not ask for the earth;
      It wants only free elections.

      If Bersih deserves the label
      Of anti- anything at all,
      It is anti-lies and scandals,
      Anti-vile manipulations,
      Duplicities and corruptions,
      And obstacles against justice.
      Fair minded people will align
      Themselves with justice and fairness.
      Bersih does not ask for the world;
      It wants only true elections.

Bersih does not coerce nor threaten.
      Its principle is non-violence,
To convey its message to all.
When its clarion call to action
      Of peaceful protest comes around,
      Citizens response with true grit.
It finds a resonance with folks.
      Bersih does not ask for the gold;
      It wants only real elections.

The ray of hope for real freedom,
Lives on in people’s mind and soul,
      That empowers them as Malaysians
      To seek a better tomorrow.
      The vast silent majority
Will not be silenced any more,
Making them scorn the gun barrels.
      Bersih does not ask for fame;
      It wants only right elections.

      Solutions and resolutions
Are the aims of Bersih rally:
      Not confrontations, not rabble
Rousing, not any form of violence.
      Demonstrations are just folks’ tools
To focus on the glaring wrongs
      (So blind to the authorities).
      Bersih does not ask for blames;
It does not want vile elections.

      Bersih is an idealism,
That draws the mass of citizens,
For the struggle of human rights,
      Through a clean electoral college.
      Bersih started as a groundswell,
That sweeps across the whole nation,
      Building up into a tsunami.
      Bersih does not ask for troubles;
It does not want dirty elections.

The Bersih tide will get bigger,
      Suffused with real democracy.
It’s the life blood of true freedom.
      Bersih embraces all races,
      All religious groups, both genders,
All age groups, and all professions.
      Righteousness is the common glue.
      Bersih does not want any strife;
It wants a clean, fair election!

    • Ahmad Sobri says:

Abuse is abuse of the law and the special privilege and the concomitant responsibility of being in a uniform which we are called to, and demanded to respect.

In fact, the uniform even carries the insignia of the royal emblem of Malaysia.

Surely therefore there must be standard operating procedures related to “under what conditions are the Public Order and Preservation Ordinations motions can be called upon” and applied towards violators.

If one is unsure, please go also on the net and find out for yourself, as an ex-military officer has already described and qualified for such “approved procedures of relevant actions”.

If the IGP cannot explain all the obvious abuse by the police upon innocent civilians who simply want a peaceful assembly, then I would like the IGP to resign.

      • Anonymas says:

        What the hell

Rioters beat up cops with baseball bat/ provoking by name-calling / banging on cop car / burning traffic cop motorcycle

        = Fault of police?

You PR supporters should learn to man up, and accept your own shortcomings instead of blaming the other party. BN did.

      • Rafiq says:

What is wrong with this beloved country of ours. It seems that our PM and his cousin Home minister are going crazy. They just simply make stupid lies hoping rakyat to believe them – non stop. It really shows that they are really scared to lose their power to PR and PANIC. They contain a lot of Fitnah.
And if rakyat especially UMNO memebers still listen to them, they need to go to physycatric check-up

        • bruno says:

Hisham and his cronies should make themselves accountable, for the lack of action when it comes down to thugs under Umno.

The part where an idiot got into the ambulance to provoke was a pathetic sight. He is such a loser to take on a person waiting to be brought to hospital for treatment. Shame on him, and shame on all others who think they have won this..

  4. funniman says:

I really hope these videos would be screened on big screen at every political rally to drive home the point to show the people who do not have access to you tube.
I do not mind opposition but not at the price of hooliganism.
We got to beat them at their own game.

  5. Sharifah says:

Lancang sungguh mulut perempuan Cina tu.

p/s Kelakar tengok reaksi lelaki India sebelah Mat Saleh tu.

    • bobo says:

      How right you are Sharifah.

I have to pay double the interest rates for my housing loan and it was indeed very tough. It was nightmare but we somehow managed to pull through. Good that you remember.

  6. Dr Lee says:

I was 20 years old when the financial crisis in 1997 and still doing my medicine at University. Time was really tough, my dad business was very slow. Business almost none but he was burden with sudden increase of interest rate. He was made to pay almost double on the interest only. He said his monthly interest was much higher then loan repayment amount thus it’s went into NPL. My mum who work as Admin Manager was not paid any salary for a few month but she still continue working with the hope when things getting better then her company will be able to back pay her salary. That was in 97-98 financial crisis.
My Dad passed away last year and the only thing he reminded us is the hard times during 97-98. He still blamed Anwar for badly managing the country as he was the Finance Minister then. George Soros is the culprit that loots lots of monies from the Asian countries at that time. Now it was said that Soros finance some of the pro democratic movement like Malaysiakini; some opposition political party; maybe Bersih also; even a few of our opposition MP also admitted publicly that Soros funded them. Is it morally right to loots from all the countries and making the Rakyat suffer so much and yet still got the heart to claim that they finance the movement for the people betterment. What a Hypocrite .

Yes, now our opposition politician is using the looters funded money to run down our country. Wake up Malaysians before it’s too late.

    • Anonymas says:

In 1998 I was 12. I heard that DSAI suggested we take a loan from IMF (on the news).

At the same time, Indonesia had riots caused by economic unrest where Chinese shopkeepers were beaten in the streets as someone to blame for the economy. Actually, IMF had Indonesia begging at the other end of the leash with the loan.

      We were so close…..

    • Anonymas says:

And until now, Soros still holds his grudge against Mahathir.

      • xXx says:

The corruption of Mahathir: by George Soros

Good to circulate this once in a while to remind people how the country has been damaged by Dr M, UMNO and his cronies. The corruption of Mahathir: by George Soros – published by Bangkok Post

George Soros is not only one of the best investors in the world but very well informed too. He has spelt clearly what Malaysians have known all the while. Malaysia with all the riches in raw materials should have a stronger currency but what started one for one equivalent with S’pore 30 yrs ago now has lost out to S’pore currency by 2.3 times. Now Malaysians know why …….. Soros has explained in very great detail….. Of course one cannot get to read this in the main media in Malaysia .

Malaysian taxpayers and voters were made to pay for his visionary expenses enriching selected vendors along the way all paid by taxpayer or rakyat’s money. The corruption of Mahathir: SOROS’ REPLY TO MAHATHIR.

I have always said Dr Mahathir is a menace to his own people. Now only you can see the effects of his foolishness when the ringgit has halved its value overnight and your economy goes kaput.

Single handedly you have caused hardship to millions of your own people. You have built useless mega projects at tremendous cost to the country.

The telecoms tower in Kuala Lumpur and the highest building in the world show how stupid you are. Not only does it cause massive traffic jam, it has totally no purpose. If you need high ground for telecoms antennae a nearby mountain is there for free. This tower has no purpose from the ground up to 300 metres. The satellites make this totally unnecessary.

A fool and his money are soon parted. The only thing is you are the fool and the money belongs to Malaysians. You make 20% in every project, you have real estate in Japan and billions of shares corruptly acquired.

Your 3 sons are worth 8 billion US$. Where do they get this money? Of course, corruption.

You are known as the Marcos of Malaysia, having enriched yourself to the tune of billions.

You dare to shed crocodile tears during UMNO delegates meeting about the ills of corruption.

Yet you are the most corrupt of all the prime ministers before you. A thief is crying thief and hopes people look the other way. Who dares to say anything when the chief is caught with his hands in the candy jar?

You said wisdom is not the monopoly of the West. So is foolishness. You have more foolishness than most people would believe. Billions are used to build two high rise Petronas buildings that benefit nobody. They now stand tall, a symbol of stupidity and irresponsibility. Instead they just add on to traffic jams..

What is this reclamation of 10 islands off Kedah? Totally absurd and stupid. Of course your benefit is 20%.

And the bridge across from Malacca to Sumatra across international waters? Why not build a bridge to the moon? I am sure you still can get your 20%. You called me a Moron. How can a Moron make so much money. By allowing short selling and borrowing millions of shares from your banks we fund managers made millions out of your
        inexperience and poor regulations.

You lose all Malaysians’ money, therefore you are the Moron.. Now you know too late and start crying over spilt milk.

In Australia you are known as the recalcitrant ego maniac; in UK the corrupt bastard because of your stupid purchase of our movie studio and the 290 million ringgit Lotus racing car plant and the shady Pergau dam loans from the UK. They are useless to us and you still want to buy them.

What about buying British reject submarines through your agent, of course. The agent/ broker is designed to make millions out of the Malaysian government..

Your purchase of our battleships is at least 50% more than others are paying. Your purchase of 9 hospitals from UK lock, stock and barrel does not support your local architects or your industry and the British send you obsolete medical equipment. The design is atrocious, one end to the other is half a kilometer and there is no CT-scan, an absolute necessity.

In the UK your face appears in no less than 17 newspapers as a corrupt dictator. In Malaysia you are known as the (IBM) International Big Mouth. In Japan they call you the ‘smallest one’ (brain size).

In Pacific islands, the Santa Claus (giving advice left and right). In south America they call you the parrot (he talks a lot but does not know what it is about). In Manila the living Marcos.

In Malaysia they are spending millions to lure tourists and you talk rubbish scaring every foreigner away. When he is dumb he is doubted a fool, when he opens his mouth it removes all doubt.”

While I agree the West does not have the monopoly to wisdom, your actions are not the wisest either. Your EAEC has totally no support even in Asean. Your South-South dialogue meets with the same fate and what is this I hear of the Bridge from Peninsula Malaysia to Sumatra covering 20 miles across International shipping lane?

How crazy can one get? Even the Japanese don’t have the money.

This world’s stupidity seems to be concentrated in one man’s mind – yours.

The multimedia super corridor – MSC -. Well in USA its Most Stupid Concept because we Americans, would have thought of it light years before. Even if it makes money, we can copy this concept can’t we?

Why do you want to spend your hard-earned money doing questionable projects? It will be like the Bakun project. Abandoned fund wasted and another white elephant. I always say politicians should not be involved in business. Your ministers are also businessmen and almost every official is enriching himself. Look at Rafidah Aziz, selling thousands of Approved Permits (APs) for cars each worth 20-30 thousand Malaysian dollars. Why not your government sell them and make the money? She has acquired millions of shares meant for bumis for free before she agrees to list them.

Look at your Selangor Chief Minister collecting millions for approving high rise buildings from businessman. He is worth a few billions. Unfortunately he was caught with a few million pocket money in Australia. Every Chief minister is awarding useless projects to his cronies then collecting secret pay offs on the side. The Land Development Boards and the Economic Development Boards are used to bail out any loses suffered by politicians. The profits they keep, the loses they force the Government bodies to absorb. How can your poor ever close the gap when every good deal is snatched by your politicians? How can your country get out of poverty if all the billions of corruption money is taken out of the country?

Look at the Sarawak Chief Minister selling billions worth of timber concessions under the table; selling every piece of state land to businessmen without tender; using his own companies to obtain lucrative government contracts; selling approval signatures for a fee ‘you pay I approve’. He has 8 billion US stashed overseas. Thousands of acres of land are given to one or two companies while thousands of poor people still live in cardboard makeshift homes; have no water and shit into the river.

Thousands of acres of land are sold to companies for plantations while the natives do not have even one acre to their name. He is selling sand near the beaches to one company for earth filling and then ask the government to spend millions to protect the coastline when erosion occurs.

He lost 300 million of the Sarawak government money trying to make computer chips. He has built a port in Northern Sarawak town in water so shallow it needs dredging every year. The Prime Minister built highways without tender, your cronies get the deal and the price double. Your Langkawi airport runway was built double the cost by your own company, Ekran.

The Malaysian nation has lost at least 30 billions during your last 10 years of corrupt rule. One billion lost from the purchase of phantom Skyhawk war planes nobody has ever seen (are they still in the Nevada desert, USA?).

3 billion lost from the London tin scandal (you thought you could corner the London tin market without knowing the Americans have a stockpile! Stupidity at its best.

6 billion Perwaja steel mill where nobody even knows where the money goes, 3 billion bank Bumiputra scandal when George Tan bribed all the bank officials to lend him the money.

6 billion forex lost by Bank Negara (the fool and his money are soon parted) and 6 billion to build three of the world’s tallest buildings (built by Japanese and Koreans and furniture imported from France – not Malaysia) and 1 billion lost from purchase of British warships including fees paid to the broker and under the table..

Add the 10 billion you stole and 5 billion taken by Ministers.

In the 1997 the World Journalists meeting voted Dr Mahathir the Prime Minister of the Decade. It sounded strange to everybody until it was revealed those who voted against are threatened by IRD officers and with losing their jobs. In New York the United Nations 1997 meeting, the most corrupt Prime Minister of the decade is President Suharto and second Dr Mahathir (Actually Dr Mahathir should take first place but bribed the Indonesians to take honour of Number One.

There are Fifty thousand of your university students not given places in Malaysia but are good enough for places overseas resulting in billions of dollars lost. The British and the Australians are thinking how stupid. Your best students are sent overseas raising their standards while as in most countries the best are kept in local universities and the rejects sent overseas..A university student in Hong Kong is much more prestigious than any Australian counterpart.

You have been colonised by the British so long you cannot even educate your own people. Look at Hong Kong or Singapore, less than 5% study overseas. All the money saved. Your country could save billions if every student overseas is recalled to a local university, and at the same time raising your own standards.

Your people are still without shoes, without land to farm, without homes, bathing in rivers shitting in holes in the ground, without water and electricity. Your cities are concrete jungles without greenery and open spaces. Your KL is jammed with traffic.

Yet you still keep on building high rises. You should come down from the clouds and stop daydreaming and firmly plant your feet in the ground.

Your schools are cramped 500 students to an acre and thousands of acres are given free to some politicians who leave them idle.

Your parks are being taken by politicians to build shophouses and every cabinet minister is a land-grabbing businessman who builds roads only to their cronies’ land.

The Malaysians’ Prayer, “Ya Allah, we thank you for your gifts of timber, oil and grain. But then the devil sent us corrupt Mahathir without a Brain and look we are back to square one again. So just take Dr Mahathir back to Hell And we will be alive and well.”

In China people have been shot for embezzling one thousand dollars. With 8 billion you have stolen, therefore you would be shot 80 thousand times. Now you are leading an anti-corruption campaign. We all know what you should do. Look yourself in the mirror. You see the crooked you. Then use your left hand and handcuff your right hand.

You have put the opposition leader and his son in jail when they said in parliament you are the richest PM in the world. And his colleague Mr Karpal Singh too for 2 years.

So I get a reward or bribe if I now say you are the poorest PM in this world? Your 3 sons are sitting on the board of directors of more than 200 companies. They must have been educated in Harvard school of business and obtained distinctions? Or is it “you don’t know me, you don’t do business in Malaysia” law that applies. Billions of ringgit of Employee’s Provident Fund and public Petronas funds are used to bail out your sons who make losses investing in every venture you thought you could make money. How unethical and corrupt. Every one of your politicians is sitting on the board of tens of companies making thousands without any effort, lending their VIP names to borrow millions from local banks without collateral..

Now these have become non- performing loans. Now you want 20 million Malaysians to sacrifice for the folly of ONE man? Why not the fool resign and admit he wasted and took most of the money. I could teach you how to put your economy on track but first you must apologize to the Malaysian people.

So good is our last chance to inform our uncles & aunties, pakcik & makcik. Let them know the truth. Download this YouTube videos and show them umno’s real colors.

yeah, and the bugger also organised riots similar to Bersih in 1997/98

Only difference is that the 1997/98 riots only kicked dustbins but the police were with batons and shields, the water was chemical laced

Now Bersih cracks unarmed police skulls, overturns car while at the same time grinning proudly (for the mat salleh cameras). Policemen are with only bare hands, absent of any weapon. Youtube was posted with negative videos the same day.

The point of the matter is not whether the Malaysian public had committed a crime when they disobeyed the court order not to enter the prohibited area? The point is why did the public do that? By standing up against the government and demanding “fair and free “elections, the people of Malaysia had several points to make:- • The court order comes from a judiciary that is discredited for corruption. The past 20 years have seen Lord Presidents who have cheated the Malaysian public. This is not something made up-it is all documents via the international Rapporteur for the Judiciary. • The Police, Attorney General, Solicitor General, Anti-corruption department and the Election Commission are Institutions that have not functioned to protect democracy since the time of Mahathir Mohamed-they are all institutions in support of the “collective dictatorship” of the Barisan Nasional. Only on those two grounds, the public are ENTITLED to ignore illegal orders.

      • bar-cc says:

the point of the matter is there is a court of law nobody is above the law a court order was obtain you can go to court to lift the order and definitely not by the law of the jungle or my law or your law as usual your assumption of what is fair and free or not free and fair is sorely base on your personal interpretation, when anwar was acquited of sodomising saiful was the court decision corrupted as you claim all the judges are coruppted then why dont you make a stand then.dictatorship of the barisan nasional on those two ground the public are entitle to ignore illegal order and again base on your personal interpretation of the law to your preference is no other than the law of the jungle and you are the champion for the fair and free all base on one personal feeling omg.

If it is true that the Saudi government is “hunting down” Malaysians who held a Bersih 3.0 solidarity gathering in Mecca on 28 April, then it is to be expected. Remember that poor Saudi who was seeking political asylum in NS and was on transit at KLIA? He was deported on the request of the Saudis. So now it’s the PM’s turn to request and the Saudis to reciprocate – “I scratch your back, you scratch mine.”

      • Zool says:

It is better for the Saudi govt to hunt, arrest and deport these people. If the Saudi law provides for longer detention for their offence, better still and let them rot in Saudi’s jail. No necessity for Arab Saudi and Malaysia to scratch each other’s back because the act of the stupid Bersih 3.0 did not augur well with the Saudi govt due to the Arab Spring. Bodohnya mamat-mamat tu….. mendewa2kan pemimpin termasuk yang bukan Islam di tanah suci.

  17. Warren Buffet says:

The differences in the face value of the Malaysian Ringgit when compared with the Singapore Dollar and Brunei Dollar in the region are really alarming to a lot of Malaysian. The Ringgit used to be a strong currency, and if not stronger than the other currencies in the region. Today the Malaysian Riggit has fallen to a very low level of worth and can no longer recover its comparative foreign exchange value.

When asking on why the value of the ringgit had drop so much in the foreign currency exchange, the Ministry of Finance replied that this is largely depending on the current currency exchange market condition from time to time. It is also depending on the market demand and the development in the country. The value of the ringgit with compared to the Singapore and Brunei Dollar is affected the exchange rate at that time.

Even though Ringgit drop by 2.3% against Singapore and Brunei dollar in 2011, if we compared this for a longer period of time from 2010 to 2nd April 2012, the Ringgit actually had increased our Ringgit value against the Dollar by 0.1% during that period.

For Singapore, they utilized a monitory system to stabilize their Dollar exchange rate. However Brunei through their Currency Board ascertained their currency value to be set and based on the Singapore Dollar. Therefore, when Singapore Dollar increases in value, the Brunei Dollar also increases the same. This is different in Malaysia, whereby we are using a system of currency value increment based on the monitory policy of the country to ensure the stability of our currency is inline with the trend of economy development. The Singapore rate of inflation has increased seriously and they have to increase the face value of their currency to counter their inflation.

Malaysia has the policy of “Non Internationalization” of the Ringgit, whereby the Ringgit is not being traded outside Malaysia. This is to ensure that the Ringgit value is not subjected to speculative activities outside Malaysia. The trading of Ringgit is only allowed to be carried with the licensed bank in Malaysia.

However, Malaysia has a liberal currency exchange policy, which encourages the trading of foreign currencies to enhance the competitiveness in the local economy and the international business sectors. This is also to promote the overall business by using the local currency.

The Minister has not answered the question as to why our Ringgit has fallen that far when compared to the Singapore and Brunei Dollars. The Ministry had siding that Singapore and Brunei saying that they have their system in controlling and stabilizing their currency in the International currency market, and why should we not following the same monitory system? Furthermore, why should we close our door for not going international, and why should we compare with the Singapore and Brunei Dollar by giving us the detail on a 2.3% value drop but in fact we had increased by 0.1%. Today, the international business is done in US Dollar no matter it is export or import. The true fact is, the Ringgit exchange rate is based on international exchange rate, and if the Ringgit is being “locked in”, how can we be competitive? How many people actually deal their international business in Ringgit?

It is a shame that the Malaysian Ringgit is falling behind while Singapore and Brunei Dollar is moving ahead. Why we have not adopted the same policy on currency like them?

  18. funniman says:

Exchange rates are mainly used as a strategic tool in managing the country’s economy.
If the Ringgit is weaker, it means that our export is cheaper and vice versa. It is also to encourage investment. Why would a foreign investor come to Malaysia if the ringgit is so strong? For an exporter, you get lesser ringgit per USD but then again you export more as in the eyes of the buyer, it is much cheaper therefore they buy more in terms of quantity. So it depends on which angle you are looking at.

Is the exchange rate of MYR locked in? Yes and no. The fluctuations of the RM should not be allowed to fluctuate freely but within the band. This is especially applicable to a export orientated country who is into manufacturing. We have debts to repay for the goods and also collections from abroad for the exports.

If a country is not export orientated but service orientated, then it is easier and a free market exchange is not a issue.

In the end of the day, we need stability in exchange rates to have sustainability in business. Investors do not like risks.

What offence did the rakyat committed during the Bersih day? The court says Dataran (padang) is out of bound but not the ring roads. The rakyat have not even steps into the ring roads and yet mata2 are like the Iraelis hantam the rakyat.
BTW, if the bugger sellers say they lost a lot of maoney, did they pay any business or personal income taxes. Why Inland Revenue did not go after them?

It’s 100% NOT legal to set up a stall and sell ham/beef/chicken burgers or carry out any business, outside anyone’s private home.

First, it’s got to be zoned for such purposes under municipal by-laws.

Second, the operator has to get a licence to operate that biz from City Hall, MPPJ etc.

Third, there’s the question of obstruction of public roads and 5-foot ways/pavements in residential areas by any legal or illegal food stall operaters. The fact that these are often not enforced is a big headache in Malaysia, but does not make it right.

Lastly, even if such a gathering outside a person’s private residence is legal (which it is not), there is the question of informing the police (10 days notice?) first under the Peaceful Assembly Act. Did Ikhlas comply?

Deputy IGP Khaled Ashburn has shot his mouth before thinking through the implications of what he is advocating, in trying to demonise Bersih and Ambiga.

No matter how you argue, it takes a really warped mind to think that demonstrating against the EC for free and fair elections in the centre of KL is the same as taking things personal and carrying the battle to outside an individual’s home.

With this irresponsible statement, the IGP is literally asking the Opposition to reply in kind with demos outside the Homes of the PM, DPM, Ministers and other BUMNO/BN Aduns and reps. Does he realize that? A police officer is recommending anarchy and encouraging invasion of individuals’ right to privacy!

The Police should stay out of politics!
